What the Admissions Blog is About


Current students from WSU share their stories and perspectives about common interests of potential first-year students. Topics will specifically complement the Admissions journey from interested to enrolled, and posts will also help prepare students for the transition to college.  


Posts will generally:

  • Demonstrate reasons to attend WSU 

    • Quality education with good career outcomes 

    • Fun things to do on campus and in Winona 

    • Convenient living experience on campus 

    • Sense of community and feeling of belonging at WSU 

    • Ways to make WSU affordable 

  • Bring attention to unique opportunities at WSU and in Winona 

  • Address potential fears/barriers to choosing WSU 

  • Guide students through admissions process and transition into their first semester at WSU 




Who's the Audience?


Always keep your audience in mind when writing posts.

 

The main audience for the Admissions Blog is potential new students. Generally speaking, this audience has the following characteristics:

  • Live Midwest and are considering college after they graduate from high school 

  • May be from large or small high schools/cities, may be from Winona or live several hours away 

  • Many are first-generation students who are unfamiliar with college resources and processes 

  • Some may have previous college experience through PSEO or similar programs 

  • Likely living on campus
